Application of Dianatal® Obstetric Gel

        - simple, safe and effective

Dianatal® Obstetric Gel is used during vaginal examination during childbirth, starting with the first vaginal examination. At each vaginal examination, 3 to 5 ml gel is introduced into the vaginal birth canal using a sterile glove and is carefully applied. To improve application, the Dianatal® Obstetric Gel Applicator can also be used: a 2 to 3 ml gel depot is applied in the area in front of the child. In order to produce the best possible lubricating film, care should be taken to ensure that sufficient fluid is added when the gel is applied. The fluids used can be the standard solutions such as NaCL or aseptic solutions. More gel should be applied 15 to 30 minutes after the membranes have ruptured.

Dianatal® Obstetric Gel accelerates both the dilation stage and also the expulsion stage. Dianatal® Obstetric Gel should therefore be used throughout the entire duration of labour. Dianatal® Stage I is recommended for use during the dilation stage, and Dianatal® Stage 2 during the expulsion stage.

The average dose required is between 10 and 30 ml Dianatal® Obstetric Gel per birth. Application should be carried out only by qualified obstetric staff.
